Biography

Holding both nursing and law degrees, Elizabeth joined the firm in 2008. Her educational background gives her a stark advantage in her primary field of medical malpractice defense litigation. She is able to easily understand complex expert witness opinions and correlate those opinions and their underlying facts to the statutory and common law rules governing this specialty field. Building from her legal and medical background, Elizabeth has represented doctors and nurses in hundreds of cases since graduating from law school.

In addition to her deep knowledge in medical malpractice, Elizabeth is known for excellence in domestic relations. The Virginia Bar Association recognized her adept legal skill in 2007 when she was the sole recipient of the Virginia Bar Association Family Law Award. Whether she is in state or appellate courts, Elizabeth is completely at home litigating domestic relations.

Not only is Elizabeth adept at litigating medical malpractice and domestic issues, she has also excelled at litigating a variety of legal issues, including breach of contract, products liability, class action suits, opioid suits, and other jury and non-jury matters. She has the skills necessary to not only try cases with complex legal issues, but also preserve the record for appeal, as she has also successfully argued legal issues before the Court of Appeals on behalf of her clients.

She served as vice president of her nursing class when she graduated from East Tennessee State University in 2001 with a Bachelor's of Science in nursing, before beginning her work as a nurse in the Intensive Care Unit at the Johnson City Medial Center for several year prior to attending law school. She graduated law school with honors in 2007. While in law school Elizabeth was known for her dedication to Moot Court, serving on the board from 2004-2007, and she placed as a semi-finalist and then finalist in the 2006 and 2007 Weshcler Moot Court Competition in Buffalo, NY. Presently, Elizabeth serves the First Judicial District as a representative for the House of Delegates, and generously gives her time to serve the homeless community through various outreach projects at her home church. She also enjoys spending time with her husband and their two boys riding motorcycles, hiking, camping, boating, and simply being outdoors.
