The firm of Herndon, Coleman, Brading & McKee, located at 104 E. Main Street in Johnson City, Tennessee, is pleased to announce the expansion of their practice areas to include immigration law. Attorneys McKenna L. Cox, who joined the firm in September, 2015 and Solange A. McDaniel, who joined in August, 2016, are both experienced immigration lawyers. Areas of focus for Ms. Cox and Ms. McDaniel include family-based immigration petitions, employment and investor visas, asylum, special immigration juvenile status, deportation defense, unlawful presence waivers, criminal defense, and other legal services.  With the addition of Ms. Cox, Herndon Coleman now offers some of the only bilingual mediation and family law services available in East Tennessee, as well.

McKenna L. Cox graduated Magna cum Laude from Wofford College with a Bachelor’s degree in English, Spanish, and Latin American Studies. She holds a Master’s Degree in Romance Languages and Literature from UNC-Chapel Hill and is fluent in Spanish. McKenna received her J.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 2005 with a concentration in Advocacy and Dispute Resolution. As a Legal Aid attorney for six years and in her subsequent private practice,  Ms. Cox has accumulated over a decade of experience in immigration, family law, domestic violence, mediation, powers of attorney, landlord/tenant, healthcare law, conservatorships, and litigation practice. She is a Tennessee Supreme Court rule 31 Listed Family Mediator,  and is also a graduate of the National Institute of Trial Advocacy and the Catholic Charities CLINIC program for representation of victims of crime in immigration cases. She is member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), the Federal Bar Association and its Immigration Law Section, the Tennessee Bar Association, the LGBT Bar Association, is the past Vice President and Pro Bono Coordinator of the Washington County Bar Association, sits on the Board of Legal Aid of East Tennessee, and is active in the Lawyers Helping People pro bono program in Johnson City, TN. Ms. Cox enjoys singing and photography, has lived in Santiago, Chile, and has travelled throughout Central and South America as well as Spain, the Czech Republic, Western Europe, Hong Kong, Thailand, and most of North America.  She has clients around the world and offers consultations and client meetings via Skype, FaceTime, and conference calling.

Solange A. McDaniel graduated from Tennessee High School in Bristol, Tennessee and went to King University on an athletic and academic scholarship. She graduated from King in 2008 with a degree in Political Science and History then went on to obtain her Juris Doctorate from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 2011 with a concentration in Advocacy and Dispute Resolution. During law school, Solange interned with the Honorable Thomas W. Phillips, Judge for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee and with Federal Defender Services of Eastern Tennessee. Since law school, Solange has practiced a variety of disciplines, including immigration law, criminal defense, personal injury, divorce & family law, and social security & disability law. Solange is a member of the American Bar Association, Tennessee Bar Association, Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association, American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives (NOSSCR) and sits on the Board of the Washington County Bar Association. Ms. McDaniel was born in Venezuela and immigrated to the United States as a child. Most of her family resides in Colombia and she enjoys traveling to South America to visit. Ms. McDaniel has also studied international law abroad at Cambridge University and has traveled throughout Western Europe. Ms. McDaniel speaks some Spanish.
