What to do when I’m denied Social Security Disability?
Appeal. Most people’s initial applications for disability benefits are denied. You are given 60 days from the date of the denial to file an appeal. You should absolutely appeal. A lot of people don’t get approved for disability until after a hearing before an Administrative Law Judge.
It takes two appeals to get before a Judge. An attorney can file the appeals for you and represent you at the hearing. If your application for disability benefits is denied, contact a disability attorney. They don’t charge anything up front to take your case, can help you navigate the appeals process, and can advocate on your behalf at hearing.
